It’s a busy festive season for the choir this year as we have not one but three Christmas concerts. However, the recent event at the Shaftsbury Square Church in Belfast has to be a yearly favourite for us – this was our own Christmas Concert in our usual rehearsal venue so it holds a special place in our hearts.
As usual we had a warm welcome as did the audience – this concert is open to everyone and includes refreshments afterwards. It was so nice to see so many friends of both the choir and the church there. As well as normal services the church also hosts free English language classes on Friday evenings.
Christmas is a fantastic time of year to be in a choir as all the old favourites come out – Hark the Herald, Ding Dong Merrily and in the Bleak Midwinter are just a few examples. Of course we also include a few of our current favourites such as The Lord is my Shepherd.
We’re also very lucky to have our member Anne who adds life and love to poetry recitals and this concert was no exception as she gave us plenty of festive verse.

Technical difficulties aside (ahem!) we had a great evening and received a great many compliments from members of the audience which is always lovely to hear.
Tuesday, December 17th at St Dorothea’s in Gilnahirk will be our last concert of the year (phew!) and we’ll be hanging up our hymn books until 2020 for a well-earned rest.
Don’t forget you can keep up-to-date on concerts on our events page.
